The research-peptide market is unregulated, which means quality varies enormously from one supplier to the next. Two vials that look identical can contain very different material. Here are the signals that separate a legitimate research supplier from a risky one.
The single most important signal: a per-batch third-party COA
A genuine supplier can give you an independent, batch-specific certificate of analysis (COA) — a lab report, from a third party such as Janoshik, that states the measured purity and carries a batch number you can match to the number on your vial. This is the closest thing to proof that the material is what it claims to be. If a supplier cannot produce batch-specific third-party testing, treat that as the biggest red flag of all.
Red flags
- No COA, or a generic one. A single COA reused across every batch (or none at all) tells you nothing about the vial you will actually receive.
- Health or medical claims. Any supplier promising results, dosing, or human benefits is both breaking the rules and signalling they do not understand — or respect — the compliance that protects buyers.
- No research-use-only labelling. Legitimate suppliers are explicit that products are for laboratory research only.
- No batch numbers. Without a batch reference you cannot verify anything.
- Prices that look too good to be true. Genuine third-party testing and quality material cost money; rock-bottom pricing often reflects skipped testing or low purity.
- No clear contact or support. A real supplier is reachable and will answer questions about sourcing and testing.

Do not just take the presence of a lab report as proof — check it.
