How to Spot a Fake or Low-Quality Peptide Supplier

The research-peptide market is unregulated. Here is how to tell a legitimate supplier from a risky one — before you order.

The research-peptide market is unregulated, which means quality varies enormously from one supplier to the next. Two vials that look identical can contain very different material. Because there is no central authority checking what is in the vial, the responsibility falls on you to vet the supplier before you order. Here are the signals that separate a legitimate research supplier from a risky one.

The single most important signal: a per-batch third-party COA

A genuine supplier can give you an independent, batch-specific certificate of analysis (COA) — a lab report, from a third party such as Janoshik, that states the measured purity and carries a batch number you can match to the number on your vial. This is the closest thing to proof that the material is what it claims to be. If a supplier cannot produce batch-specific third-party testing, treat that as the biggest red flag of all.

Do not just take the presence of a lab report as proof — check it. Match the batch number on the report to the vial, look at the stated purity percentage, and confirm the report comes from an independent lab rather than the supplier's own bench. Why compliance is itself a quality signal

It may seem counter-intuitive, but a supplier's discipline about compliance — research-use-only labelling, no medical claims, transparent testing — is one of the best proxies for whether they run a serious operation. Sellers who cut corners on the rules tend to cut corners on the material too.
